Using Short Acting Scenes for Fun and Learning
Like most good teachers, you are probably always looking for exciting resources to spur on the creativity of your students. Short acting scenes may be just the ticket for your students! Kids and Youth gravitate toward opportunities to use their imaginations. Kids love the creative nature of theater, and personal confidence and growth inevitably follow.
BUILD CONFIDENCE & READING SKILLS
Whether you use short acting scenes in the classroom or as presentations in a showcase or assembly, your students will be thrilled. As I work with student actors, I see comprehension and reading skills increase, as well as confidence levels. This is perhaps the most exciting result for parents - to see their children build confidence and the ability to feel comfortable with presenting.
RESOURCES FOR YOUR CREATIVE STUDENTS
My recently released collection of 16 scenes, “Sci-Fi Scenes and Monster Dreams”, is packed with fun. The scenes are based on the Science Fiction genre with a few monster-related scenes sprinkled in. Kids and youth naturally gravitate to the subject matter. Creativity will abound when they begin to plan props, sets and costumes for the scenes.
For more traditional subject matter, take a look at my popular book, “Fractured Fairy Tales for Student Actors”. Packed with comedy, these scenes are smart, creative, and designed to teach basic acting techniques while having a lot of fun in the process.
