welcome to my author's website!
I have a thing for writing dialogue. Maybe that's because I have spent almost 40 years working in theater. I started out working professionally as an actress and singer in the Los Angeles area. But I was eventually drawn toward directing and that is where I have spent the majority of my professional life.
I have directed over 60 musicals and plays and have served as the Artistic Director at Western Washington Center for the Arts in Port Orchard, Washington for the past 14 years.
A teacher at heart, I love training new actors, singers, and musicians. My recent book, Fractured Fairy Tales for Student Actors (Meriwether Publishing/Pioneer Drama, 2013), was inspired by the acting students I have worked with through the years. I wanted some fun, creative and smart scenes for actors of any age to perform so I wrote them myself.
I have a new book of scenes for student actors titled, Sci-Fi Scenes and Monster Dreams, that has been accepted for publication and will be available in August, 2015 (Meriwether/Pioneer Drama). I am very excited about this new collection of scenes and look forward to sharing them with you soon!
Being an Artistic Director has inspired me in numerous ways. The theater is home for a family of crazy, bigger than life characters. I am so excited to share with my readers my first novel based on experiences I have had working in the theater. Starring on Bay Street is a warm, humorous, fictionalized telling of the life and times of a small local theater. Read the synopsis, first chapter, and reviews.
"Starring on Bay Street" is available now!
